Installing a filtration system of drinking water is a much better option than buying bottles according to a recent study by Environmental Working Group. The systems vary considerably in terms of price and the number of purification steps included. Although GTE suggested that reverse osmosis was a good choice, this step does nothing to eliminate chemicals in the treatment of public water supply.
Many doctors believe that reverse osmosis is not a good option as it removes natural minerals. The systems are selective in who remove lead, chlorine, cancer-causing byproducts of chlorination, solvent benzene, a VOC called by dozens of chlorate and other chemicals that are harmful to your health and the environment.
Reverse osmosis is also bad for the environment because it requires electricity to operate. Just does not make sense to install a filtration system of drinking water requires electricity to operate. Chemical systems are trapped by the filter removed. The best systems include granular activated carbon, a solid carbon block filter and a step submicron ion exchange. They are much less expensive than reverse osmosis. If the bottle you buy now will save hundreds of dollars a month to install their own water filtration system.
