Alexandre Yersin, the scientist whose research has made a lot of
contribution to mankind, breathed his last
at one o'clock a.m. of the 1st of March,
1943, at the age of 80. When shrouded, he
was laid on his stomach, the act of
embracing the land he dearly loved, in
accordance to his last words.
On the visit to Nha Trang, after seeing the achievements made by the
Pasteur Institute through the last eighty
years, visitors should not forget to visit
in memory of Dr. Yersin, a room dedicated to
the devoted scientist and his contributions
to science.

And as an act of
respect to this great scientist, visitors should make a pilgrimage to
his resting place in Suoi Dau, about 20 kilometres to the south and 500
metres off National Road I. Among an overgrown area, which is the
Institute's property is his tomb, quite simple as his life and homely as
his personality, made of cement, painted light blue. On its surface is
engraved a simple line in the place of an epitaph:
Alexandre Yersin
1863 - 1943
