Yang Bay Waterfall used to be an unknown place 5
years ago. It is hidden deep in a forest in Phuoc
Thuong Commune, Khanh Vinh District, Khanh Hoa
Province. Now Since Khanh Hoa invested in building
the road leading to the foot of the waterfall, Yang
Bay has become a splendid waterfall, a popular
tourist attraction.
Its
name Yang Bay means sky waterfall in the language of
Raglai minority ethnic group. It is situated in Y
Bay Village. We have to go for 4 km from Nha Trang
City to Khanh Vinh District, then turn left and
continue to go for 5 km. You can also take another
way which is more challenging by passing Dien Tho
Commune (the road to Danh Thanh Mineral Water
Factory). At present, two wheel vehicles are the
only means of transport go can go by to reach the
waterfall.
Yang Bay is 600m
above the mainland. The water that flows over Yang
Bay cascades down to the Cai River, Nha Trang City. Along the way are delightful
pools of various sizes with schools of fish swimming here and there.
Under the foot of the waterfall is a large shallow lake with water
so crystal clear that pebbles an the bottom can be seen.

The
attraction of the waterfall is
nature-conquering. To discover Yang Bay’s
upper section requires clambering up a
hand-hewn staircase to the beautiful pools,
but few tourists bother to make the effort.
Most of them stop at the second or third
pool then find a good flat rock to sit on
and indulge themselves in the fresh air amid
the sound of cascading water.
If you don’t like trekking then you can always wade
across the shallows at the base and investigate the forest
on the other side. There you can lie down on carpets of
grass or fallen leaves under the shadow of giant trees.
Long Phu Tourist Company is investing to turn the “sleeping
beauty” into Yang Bay Tourism Park without, it claims,
destroying the landscape. A 30m dam was constructed to be
used as a road to cross the waterfall. The dam creates an
ideal swimming pool, 1.2m deep, safe for all swimmers. The
forest beyond the waterfall is also carefully kept to add
attraction to the spot. Here, you will surely feel safe and
comfortable when taking a trip to Yang Bay Waterfall.
